Developing Mobile Digital Libraries across the Globe

  During my research for this inquiry topic, I have found a library project that is happening across the globe. Many charities, institutions, local and national governments, and volunteers support the project of mobile libraries. Volunteers and workers travel with loads of books and other materials to help spread literacy opportunities to children and adults in secluded areas around the world. In the past few years, these mobile libraries have been working to install mobile devices and electronic content into their services. The hope is to connect users to modern education and develop digital literacy skills that vital for the 21 st   century world. Leading Technology Workshops and Book Clubs for Professional Development

      As I have examined different sources and reflected on my previous posts, I realize that leading professional development can be offered to not only teachers and staff, but for the local school community as well. This includes parents and other members of the community who may need access to certain skills and knowledge. By inviting collaboration between the local community and school through open house workshops, students will be able to have support both at school and in their community. Therefore, I plan to host different professional development sessions, such as technology workshops and book clubs, for both educators and community members.     One of the many roles that teacher-librarians fill is digital mentor. Personal Professional Development as a Digital Mentor and Student Advocate

  While looking for various ways to develop my pedagogy, I realized that professional development occurs beyond online databases. Growth occurs through experiences and interactions with people. I should interact with more professionals in the education field, whether through virtual or physical spaces. According to Lila Armstrong in her article " Professional Development: What Does It Mean to You?  :   Understanding the philosophies behind different teacher PD approaches has helped me appreciate how schools, administrators and teachers need to navigate between professional autonomy and a common goal when it comes to learning; it is more than just sitting in a room together on the same day, it is about building structures to enhance student success.
